At the beginning of the year (January and February) was the time for capture and search for signs of small mammals that live in the vegetation of the road verges and adjacent areas. All captured animals were identified, measured, weighed and released where they were captured. This work was carried out before and after the interventions carried out on this road (placement of barriers and passages for amphibians and small mammals) to assess the evolution of the populations of these species and the efficiency of the measures implemented. On this road, 7 species were identified: Apodemus sylvaticus, Mus spretus, Microtus cabrerae, Microtus duodecimcostatus, Crocidura russula, Talpa Ocidentalis and Rattus norvegicus. In all the years of sampling there were also found some weasels (Mustela nivalis) that use the verges as refuge and for foraging.
These data are still being analyzed, however it is possible to say that in relation to the captures, there was an increase in the number of individuals of the species Apodemus sylvaticus and Crocidura russula, in relation to previous years. The number of crossings on the road remains very low, and never in the places where barriers were implemented, as has been verified in previous years, and after the placement of barriers. Regarding the presence signs, there was mainly an increase in the number of signs of Microtus cabrerae and Talpa Ocidentalis.
