With a high number of roadkills of small mammals and amphibians, the municipal road 535 (that connects Santiago do Escoural with S. Cristóvão) was selected, within the LIFE LINES project, to be intervened to reduce the number of mortalities. At the 22th day of January, with the presence of the town councilors Palmira Catarro and António Pinetra, was conducted a visit to the road 535. During this visit, the team from the University of Évora explained some of the mortalities hotspots and some of the measures to be implemented to mitigate those places. These solutions, developed for each individual case, can go from more complex solutions, like the creation of new tunnels specially design for amphibians, which can also benefit the road, to just the implementation of some guiding fences to existing tunnels.
