Last June 2nd, took place the I International Seminar of LIFE LINES project, co-financed by the European Commission. This event took place at auditorium of PCTA in Évora and was included in the first Monitoring Committee and attended by more than 100 people from various entities. In the morning the communications was based in some communications about the presentation and development of the LIFE LINES project followed by a brief analysis and discussion. In the afternoon, national and europeans specialists in linear infrastructures ecology presented some of the most relevant applied work they have carried out, including more pragmatic ways of evaluate the permeability / connectivity of the landscape; efficiency of mitigation measures; examples of defragmentation measures adopted to the Iberian Lynx; interactions between fauna and High-speed trains; electrocution risk of birds of prey in power lines, etc.
Field trip with the Monitoring Committee
On June 3 was carried out a field trip of the Monitoring Committee with the coordinator of the project to the intervention areas and to the plant nursery in the University of Évora (in Homestead of Mitra). In this field trip the national and europeans specialists have given a precious collaboration about the conservation actions to be implemented and make some important suggestions to test new solutions to improve the efficacy of these actions.
